Welcome to floridahummingbirds.net's Florida Hummingbirds Forum

This forum has been created to provide a place where all who are interested in hummingbirds can meet and share thoughts while also collecting data that will help to improve our understanding of Florida's hummingbirds.

We encourage participation from all levels of experience. We hope those who have knowledge will tell of their experiences and report their hummingbird sightings while those new to hummingbirds will take advantage of this resource and read what others have posted as well as ask any questions that they may have.

The reports of sightings are a critical part of this forum. These reports will be used to better understand the distribution of hummingbirds in Florida. This data may help those new to hummingbirds better predict the likelihood of attracting hummingbirds to their yard as well as helping us understand more detailed aspects of their movements. We hope to use this data to show a more accurate count than ever of the hummingbirds annually wintering in the state. We hope to also be able to identify regularly used breeding territories.

With better communication on where and when hummingbirds are being found, we hope to assist the hummingbird banders with The Hummer/Bird Study Group who have been traveling into Florida for at least the past eight years. With their help we hope to eventually be able to discover where our wintering hummingbirds spend their summers, and more.
