Hi, new member here. My wife and I just move to a new house in St. Pete, FL and right after we move in (August) I saw ruby throated hummers on two occasions. I was so surprised since in my 30 years living in FL, I had not seen any hummers. Anyway, one morning I saw (out of the corner of my eye) something flitting in my patch of penta flowers. So I grabbed my camera and captured this image...not a hummer...but exciting nonetheless: i274.photobucket.com/albums/jj263/cmessenk/CSC_0039.jpg

My mistake. I didn't look at where this was posted.
I don''t have a lot of information on St. Pete hummingbirds in the winter and summer but I know that they do breed in north Pinellas County and they have wintered in Largo. They've been regulars at many locations during migrations, especially if the host hast landscaped for them.
