We are still seeing what we believe is one lone female still with us 11/9 in our yard here in Lake County. This is by far the latest in the season we have ever seen them still hanging around!

I saw one today (Nov. 9th, Lake county) also, using my feeder. Most of my hummingbird plant flowers are gone by, so I put up a feeder the other day when I still saw a hummer looking around. Just now washed the feeder out and refilled it. Normally due to all the real flowers, they ignore the feeder and just use the plants, so this is pretty exciting. Yeah!

The male hummer has been feeding heavily at my feeder today, 11/18. I hope he is preparing for the cold temps tonight.

They survive the winters throughout the state so long as they have a food source. Make sure he has food this evening and then again in the morning. You may want to be ready to thaw a frozen feeder in the morning. I assume that you're expecting a freeze tonight. They're predicting 34 degrees in Tampa. I had hummingbirds survive 13 consecutive nights of freezing temperatures a few years back.

I was getting sad that I hadn't seen the male hummingbird in three days, since the day after the really cold night. I was worried that maybe he had flown off in all this heavy rain. But, here it is the afternoon of 11/26 and I just saw him at the feeder. I have ordered for myself, and I hope for the hummingbird, an early Christmas present that is yet to arrive, a new feeder. Hopefully it won't leak!

Steve, have you seen your bird since 12/2? I haven't seen my male since 12/1 and I have the new feeder up.

Thanks Steve for your report. I'm glad to know some are still around. My male is still missing as of 12/1.

We saw her again both yesterday and today 12/14 & 12/15. Apparently she is planning on wintering here in Lake County.

Thanks for your update. Our male still not seen. Guess he left for South America. In what area of Lake County are you located?
