I also live in the crossings. A female Ruby Throated hummingbird comes to feed in my yard a few time a day.

I've lived in West Kendall for 21 years, 3 years ago I created a butterfly garden in my backyard, the past 2 years a pair of hummingbirds comes & winters in the garden. Haven't been able to identify which type they are but, I sure enjoy them, they're just adorable to watch!

I have lived here all my life and never seen one here. I just saw a small greenish Hummingbird in the Kendall area -The Crossings. I saw my first hummingbird ever in Panama a few years ago. Have seen them in California as well. Recently, was in Homosassa, Florida and overheard a couple of ladies talking about their hummingbird feeders. I live in South Florida and wondered why there were none here. Well, on my morning walk earlier this week at Constitution Park in Deerfield Beach I saw one. I was in shock. Unfortunately, to quick for me to pull out my cellphone and get a pic. So happy to see that they do live here in SoFla.

I planted some red (Stachytarpheta Urticifolia)and blue Porter Weed plants (Stachytarpheta jamaicensis) for Butterfly, right outside of our kitchen window. A month ago, while doing the dishes I saw the hummer instead. It attracted to the RED only though.. Then I add the bottle feeder and made the nectar from sugar and water. I put the feeder on a Shepperd hook hanger and wrap it with packing tape with the sticky side out near the ground to keep the ants away. Really fun to see this little creature come sip the nectar and flutter away. I wonder how many of them that come feeding on it.

We spotted a Female Ruby-Throated (Green Back - Silver-Gray Chest) on our peach colored Hibiscus. We've had a feeder ready and made up the sugar water, Then hung it near the Hibiscus on a Shepard's Hook. She's come back for three days now. Hope she stays around our Fort Lauderdale location. We loved watching them in PA, CA, and the Carribean. They're a rarity in South Florida for us.

trudyjar, Do you know the scientific classification of the hibiscus she is feeding on? I don't believe it's a true hibiscus, but I may be wrong.

We just moved here thought for sure there would be hummingbirds. Haven't seen any and wondered as well if maybe they're only here in the winter. I'm planning to plant flowers to attract them, put out a feeder hoping to get results. We are in Port Charlotte.

I live in Charlotte County and frequently have hummers visit my garden. Red Porterweed is their favorite. Spotted a male Ruby Throated Hummingbird this morning.

I saw a hummer tonight about 8 p.m after a very bad storm.....I was so surprised!!! since it was still raining a bit!!! It feed on my firecracker plant, and stayed for about 3-4 minutes. This is the 2nd time I have seen a hummer in Venice Florida last time was in 2012. I lived in Georgia for 13 years, and I saw tons of the beautiful little darlings..I just love Hummingbirds. sighting date was today, 8/7/2017.

Well I'm in Pompano Beach with a canal of tidal water in the backyard; have flowers, and between 6 and 8 feeders (as I rotate them for cleaning) Haven't seen any hummer yet but I sure hope to see at least one. Would appreciate any news of neighboring areas. I was in a 4th floor condo by the ocean in the panhandle of Florida until this winter, and took me over 2 years of feeders and flowers to get one, but I did... and it was the highlight of each day when he (or she) came by for breakfast every morning. I hope to be fortunate again.
