We have had RT hummingbirds in our yard continuously for over a year now but things are very active now. I counted 5 RT hummingbirds in our yard, 3 males and 2 females. That is how many birds I am sure of, there may be more. I guess they are part of a late migration because before today we only had 2( 1male and 1 female). It sure is fun to watch all of the activity!

Things are pretty hectic here in Lecanto. We have 4 immature males and at least 1 female. The immature males have been putting on quite a show! I watch 2 immature males fight with each other for a good 15 minutes. This was not just chasing but physical contact. They latched onto each other and spun towards the ground, releasing each other about 3 feet from the ground. We can sit on are patio and have at least 1 bird in view 90% of the time. This has been the most active summer we have ever had.

I just saw the first mature male RT of the fall in our yard. We have 6 or 7 birds at this time.
