I'm so happy to have found this forum. A few days ago I had Ruby Red Throated males and females all over my feeders. I had 3 active feeders. Unfortunately, I didn't realize that my feeders had gotten moldy. I was changing it once a week and due to the increase in temps, that wasn't enough. I cleaned my feeders and refilled them as soon as I realized they were moldy, but I haven't seen a single hummer since. I have relocated the feeders and changed the bow I tie on the feeders in the hopes that they wouldn't associate them with moldy nectar.
I am wondering if it was the moldy feeders that made them leave, or were they just passing through coincidentally. I miss seeing them. Thanks, Debbie
