3-4 weeks ago my husband and I saw our 1st hummingbird in Fl. We live very far self in the Redmond area near Homestead. It was drinking from my purple duranta! We have only seen it about 3 times. A good friend bought us a beautiful feeder from Georgia made from gorgeous red glass looks very vintage. I think I should plant possibly some fire Bush or other plants to attract them, I am welcome to suggestions. I work in agriculture so I'm very familiar with plants but very new to what hummingbirds like lol Also how long do you think it will take them to come? There is also a gigantic multi head pony tail Palm that is right next to the Duranta Bush. I believe they might be nesting at the very top of that palm as we hear a lot of ruckus going on way up on top. Would that be possible? Thanks so much for any help! this is really exciting they are so cute to see. The only time I've seen them has been in North Carolina and Tennessee and these are much smaller! Thanks for suggestions🌸

Congratulations, I always considered a privilege to have a hummingbird visit me. For sure the fire bush is a good plant but pretty much any plants with small flowers tend to be effective even more if there's a feeder close by. I've found that once you have them visit you they'll stay as long as there's food available. I'm still battling for a visit to my Pompano Beach house.
Enjoy them while you have them.

Thanks for suggestions🌸 Check out our home page and the tips section (landscaping for hummingbirds)! Website searches for hummingbird plants are helpful with a caveat, be careful you consider the plant zone your in. Many will not or may not survive in you area!
