couldnt make out what kind of hummingbird I had on my patio but at 10:30 pm there was a very small hummingbird feeding out of my flowers! Never knew they came out at night! I live in country walk area

I live in country walk area Very, very uncommon for hummers to feed beyond dusk. Hummers will generally only feed later than twilight prior to migration when they are "bulking up" for the trip, and then usually in areas with artificial light providing some illumination. Do you have hummingbirds in your yard during the day? If not then you most likely observed a sphinx moth. 'Wiki Sphinx moth and see why many folks misidentify them as hummingbirds! Cheers, |
