As flowers are burnt by the freeze, any remaining hummers will begin moving, looking for a new source of food. A feeder will be greatly appreciated by a hummer who's lost his food source. There are no guarantees that a hummingbird is in your area but if one is, it's sure to appreciate a feeder.
I always recommend hanging a fresh feeder the morning of the first frost or freeze. You never know what is around. I always see new birds after a freeze.

Steve, You are so right. We have several hummers and they are on the feeders all day.

How often should the feeders be changed in this weather?
Thanks.

Oops, I should have kept reading the site -- I had looked around a little before I posted my question, but then found the thread on changing the feeders. We will change them every few days even in the cold weather.
