I live in Venice, Fl. Are there certain times of the year to expect to see hummingbirds?

John, They can be seen year round throughout most of the state but it can be very local, in one neighborhood but not the next. They're more likely to found in the summer near water, especially rivers, and north of Tampa. Breeding has been very limited south of Tampa but at least one nest was found east of Naples last year. Your chances of attracting a resident bird would be better during the winter months. Pretty much everywhere in the state has the best chance of attracting a hummer during migration: March-May and August-October.
