I spotted this tersa sphinx Sunday evening. This makes the fifth type of hummingbird moth I've seen so far this summer. ;D The in flight photos didn't come out very good but it landed on a leave and I was able to get this.

Thanks for the photos. I'm hoping that we can collect a good database of sphinx moth photos on this board to help others with the identification of moths that they are seeing as well as to emphasize how many different species are possible in Florida. Unfortunately, I've not been too successful in capturing good moth images.

omg I've seen these around my house lol i just thought they were pardon my language a big ass moth,again i live in West Palm Beach Florida There just Beautiful!,now im going to go get some things to see if i can attrack some,and the ones i seen came at dark maybe attracted to the lights outside,it flew in our house i had my husband catch it and he set it free back outside.im glad i found this site

virgo10 You seem to be able to ID the moths so well. Can you tell me the name of the one I posted just above this reply back in jan 2011?
