During Fred Bassett's visit for his presentation, he will also do some banding in Lakeland (primarily S. Lakeland). If you have 'reliable' hummers going to feeders and are interested in having Fred visit your home, please give me a call or e-mail msg. He has time constraints so will not be able to visit everyone but I'm sure he will try!.. Joe Misiaszek 863 646-6187

Follow up and banding results here in Lakeland on the 19th of Jan 2012. Fred banded his first bird, immature male Ruby-throated at Mary Boston's home but her adult male was a 'no show! Next stop at Jennifer Willis's yielded 4 adult male Ruby-throated, unable to entice any others into his traps (she had several more)! At my home we trapped 1 return adult male (banded here 3 yrs ago), three more adult males that had not been previously banded and a surprise visitor, an immature Black-chinned hummer. Our 8 yr old Ruby was a no show along with two others that had little interest in adding an an ankle bracelet. The Lakeland Ledger covered the banding and followed up with a story and a nice picture of the Black-chinned 'in hand'. www.theledger.com/article/20120120/NEWS/120129954?tc=cr&tc=arJoe M. Lakeland
