As many of you know, I'm more than happy to offer cuttings and/or seeds from most of the plants in my yard. Feel free to ask if you're ever visiting.
I need to clean out some flower beds that are overgrown with Russelia equisitiformis and sarmentosas, Salvia miniata, and red Firespikes. I've also get plenty of Salvia coccinea (red ones and pink ones) that need to be removed. If nobody claims them, they will be tossed into garbage cans to be picked up with the yard waste on Thurdays. There will always be plenty more if anyone is interested but I hate to throw away any plant.

Steve, I currently have firespike, pentas, firebush, lantana, shrimp plant, (red & yellow), porterweed, and golden dewdrop. Do you have anything else that attracts butterflies or hummingbirds that I can get cuttings and/or seeds? Thanks, Jennifer

Jennifer,
A quick walk around the yard reminds me that I've got 3 different types of firespike, salvias (Tropical, Belize, Black and Blue, and Purpurea - Lavender Lace), Firecracker Flowers (Russelia equisetiformis and R. sarmetnosa), Chinese Hat, 3 varieties of shrimp plant, 2 Turks Caps, Flowering Maple, heliconia, Cypress Vine, and Coral Honeysuckle.
I've got some cuttings started of Cigar Plant (Cuphea ignea - David Verity) and a few seedlings of Cuphea Schumanii that I can share.
For butterflies, I've got 3 kinds of Cassia, milkweed, fennal, parsley, Calico Flower (Pipevine), and a passionvine.

Hi Dave,
E-mail me when you want to head this way. There are a number of plants that I haven't mentioned but there are also a few that I am looking for. Lily of the Nile and Golden Shrimp Plant are a couple that come to mind.

Hi Steve, I was just a Lowe's today and they have some Lily of the Nile plants...I think they were around $5.00. I saw them at the Lowe's on Lumsden in Brandon. Hope this is helpful!

Steve, Thank you SO much for your knowledge and this wonderful site! Learning so much from reading posts. Would love to come- "bring and share" but am too far away Tip for anyone in Ft. Lauderdale area: Lowes on I75 @ Sheridan now has 3 tiers ( I scooped up one tier) of Black and Blue Salvia (Salvia guaranitica) on clearance rack, not damaged/dried; beautiful plants. Will share with anyone just starting out who wants to get beds established ahead of fall Southern migration.

Mary,
I've got a couple of Cuphea igneas 'David Verity' that I got from Nancy Newfield. I don't have any plants to give away at this point but they root very easily from cuttings. I've got lots of other plants to share if anyone is interested.
As I posted to the Facebook group recently, 'With a yard like mine, the "weeds" are hummingbird plants, so when it's time to 'weed the flower beds', I'm throwing away good hummingbird plants that a store would sell for $5 each'. I've got a couple of patches over grown with Tropical Sage, Belize Sage, and Russelia sarmentosa that need to be cleared.

Great, would love to come "weed" for you! Is there a day/time that would be best for you? I know that Shirley would probably like to come with me as well. You probably work during the day so let me know what would be convenient and if you would like any of my butterfly plants/seeds. I do also have the Purple Firespike ready to go.
Thanks!

I'll be home today. I know this is short notice. I'm coming off a vacation and am not knowledgeable of my future work schedule so I'm unable to comment on future availability.
I've got red and purple firespike (Odontonema strictum) as well as a purple Odontonema callistachyum.

Hello I just joined the group and want to start my Hummingbird Heaven Garden. I am originally from Palisades Park, NJ and moved to Orlando, Fl. Back in July-August 2011 I visited my mom in Cuba and was amazed at the Hummingbirds that visited the Glory Bower she had by her fence. All day long we had visitors and was a beautiful experience to see them so close. Since I've been back I was able to purchase the Glory Bower and now I want to build a garden just for the little friends. If any of you have any cuttings or seeds that you night want to trade for postage please let me know via email mts424@yahoo.com. Thank you and I am hoping to learn from all of you. Mari

Mark,
I've got three kinds of firespikes, free to anyone who wants to pick them up. I have a lot of hummingbird plants and have pretty much run out of room. That said, if you've got something unique, I may be interested.
