Yesterday in anticipation of the freezes tonight both local and north of us, my husband cleaned and filled 10 hummingbird feeders. We are ready to provide some emergency hummer rescue for any of our little friends who get caught without food after the freezes. We have had at least one male Ruby Throat for about a couple of months now...he could use a few more little friends to keep him company in our garden throughout the winter.

UPDATE: Well our little male RTH is in for a treat today, we just had our first after-the-freezes sighting of a female hummingbird in our garden. We think she's a Ruby Throat, but we will have to get a better view of her to be sure.

Another update: we now have two females and one male since the freeze. The spotted the second female a couple of days ago. All are Ruby Throated hummers.
