I looked out my bedroom window today saw my first wild hummingbird (and I'm a Fl born&raised). I caught a pic and it was definitely a Ruby throated hummingbird drinking from one of my passion flowers; I'm not sure if it was a male or female as the pictures I got were not that great. I'll send them in or post them when I figure out how.
Sighting was at 3:00pm, heavy overcast and "Lady Margaret" was the passion flower species it choose.

Wow a Ruby throated , I'd love to see that. The past week I have been seeing the emerald chested! Comes in the morning around the same time between 8:30& 9:30. Feeds on a 4 ft tall salvia bush & a hanging basket called "lipstick" with red trumpet shaped flowers. What color is your Passion flower? If it's the same one I'm thinking (a vine with flowers that close at night & open in the morning), I have it in purple but I have yet to see any on it. I don't do feeders, flowers are the way to go!

I have noticed Ruby throated hummingbirds visiting our garden regularly for the past several years. First one is usually spotted at the beginning of October, and I see them through February. This is the first year that I've noticed there are more than one, seems to be at least three of them. They feed on firespike, bottle brush tree, and neighbor's starburst tree. This is also the first year I put out feeders, which they visit regularly as well. We are in Miami,FL.

I live in Vero Beach also have a make and female Ruby throat visiting my feeders and also feeding off the honeysuckle vines . This is the second year I have seen them .. Arriving late October and staying til about March. It is always been one hummingbird at a time, but last week we saw three at the same time feeding only on the honeysuckle. They never went to the feeders. I'm not sure what kind they were. hoping they come back while I have my camera outside. Stacey
