Hey Jennifer glad to hear you have hummers too. We have had the pleasure of the company of two different males. Both RTH.(South of Clubhouse /Lakeland Highlands Area) The adult male is well colored and seems less flighty than the younger male. Thought we saw a female too but she has not been back to verify. Mary is also having visitors at her feeders. Ours nectar at the salvia, petunia, butterfly bush, native honeysuckle and on the two feeders we have been tending. We are also seeing and influx of migratory sparrows, warblers, gnat catchers, and other vagrants.

I saw our first hummer of this season on Sat., August 28th, an adult male. He nectared on our feeder as well as the Salvia and Candlestick Cassia. Saw a male each day from then until Sept. 1st. Then again on Sun., Sept.5th, I saw an adult male nectaring on our Firebush.

Still nothing here in Auburndale. I have a fire bush that is a mass of flowers. I wasn't thinking when I planted it though. It's located on the side of the house with no windows. I may buy another one and put it where it can be easily viewed. The feeders are located where I can watch though and so far we've had no visitors. With all the Lakeland reports, you'd think at least one or two could find their way here.

We have at least 4 hummers here for the winter. The two-night freeze didn't seem to faze them. They are still at the feeders, (blooms all gone, ), throughout the day.

Jennifer, saw your posting. I have 1 or 2 males, a female Rubys and an immature male Rufous. Still hoping some of the banded ones from last year will return. I lost alot of plants too.

We still have 4 to 6 hummers. The storm seems to have gotten them stirred up as they are extremely active and territorial.

Reported yesterday on another post that I had a female - well it turns out that there are actually two females here and an adult male. Have been seeing them all day at he feeders and around the flowers. Hoping they stay.

I mistakenly started another thread on the male RTH I saw on Thursday. Oops. I'll put my sighting here.
After not seeing him at all yesterday, he's been to the feeders 3 times this morning. This is only the third time I've had hummers in my yard since we moved here in 2004 so it's very exciting news.
Haven't gotten any photos yet but I'm hoping he'll cooperate today.

The male that was at my house last Friday, Sunday and yesterday appears to have moved on. I saw him yesterday morning around 8 am but nothing since then. Hopefully another one will find its way here. Just a couple of lousy photos. He was tough to catch at the feeders.

After no sightings all of yesterday and most of Monday, the male RTH has returned. ;D I was sure he was gone so this is a happy surprise.

We're on our 7th day since March 1st of seeing the male RTH in my yard. Today was the 4th day in a row! Every day he shows up again, I'm totally amazed.

They always amaze me! We still have at least 2 males, 1 female and 1 juvenile male. Not sure how much longer they will be around, though.

After seeing at least 1 RT for6 days straight I haven't seen any for the past 3 days I had 1 male feeding regularly at feeder, cape honeysuckle and firecracker fern. Hopefully some more will wander through.

For all you folks that have hummers, I am envious! After 6 months with counts as high as 13-15, alas I have not seen one today. Maybe a stray wandering hummer will appear during the next month, but thats what it will be! "It is what it is" ! Not to worry, I know my over wintering birds will be back in October! Joe M. I haven't seen my male the last two days. I was rather surprised he stayed as long as he did since he showed with the two females right after the bad storm. They left the following week but he stayed around. Surprising since he was an adult male. Still hoping he will show up tomorrow, who knows?!

A couple more photos of my lady visitor. She loves to sit on the branches of that bush in the morning and wait for the first rays of sun. It's also a great place to bug hunt at twilight.
