Is this too late to put up a feeder? We just moved to Treasure Island, FL. "Doc, you didn't mention where you moved from but Hummingbird activity in FL is unlike activity in most of the continental US. Certainly unlike activity east of the Mississippi and states nort of FL. In FL it is never too late to put up a feeder since one species (Ruby-throated) are reported throughout the state, year round, with the exception of southern FL in the summer months. In FL those of us in the central peninsular will see more hummers in the winter months than the summer months, so there is no reason to take feeders down for the winter! I normally see more hummers in the winter months here in Lakeland so I take my feeders down in May and put them back up in late Sep.- early Oct. Regards and good hummingbirding!
