A Buff-bellied Hummingbird was first seen on January 1st at Castellow Hammock Park in Miami. It was documentedby numerous observers on the second and was present today on the third. Steve, thanks for posting the info on this western rarity. Another reason for hummer lovers to keep 1 or 2 feeders up in the winter months here in FL. These western hummers do find their way to FL in the winter months, not many, but your chances of seeing one are far greater than winning the lottery! Leave the feeders up, keep them clean with fresh sugar solution and you may be rewarded with a visit by some pretty rare winter vistitors.
