janurary 2, was the last day i spotted a hummer. i saw 2 at once 3 times the last week of 2015 and i think i will take in 3 of my 5 feeders until next summer when my shrimp plant blossoms get scarce.

Snooker, I forgot where your located but I wouldn't be taking feeders down right now in FL. This colder weather will in all likelihood make it very likely that we will see more hummers as a result. Since yesterday morning I have had three new birds start using my feeders. An adult male and female Ruby-throated and a female Rufous. The Rufous I have only seen a few times, twice yesterday and once today! First time we have had 5 hummers in the yard for quite some time. I think there is a good chance a few more birds will show up since freezing temps further north will almost certainly affect their tender blooming plants and force them to look for available nectar sources in central and south FL!

thanks for your response joe. i live just to the east of us 98, north of lakeland where 98 becomes 2 lane. in the last 3 days i've spotted at least 2 mrt's with 14+- sightings. i've done no concentrated watching during that time. i'll keep all l5 feeders up and fresh. dave
