I see hummingbird sometimes in my west Broward yard but would like to know if they are year round residents. I recently moved just a tad farther north to Tamarac and am planning my new naturalized butterfly/hummingbird garden.

Hummingbirds are always reported in South FL year round. However summer sightings are uncommon. Winter month sightings are much higher including sightings of western species overwintering in FL. I suggest that those in S. FL. interested in attracting Hummingbirds concentrate on providing plants that bloom in the Dec.-Mar. time period and keep a feeder up with fresh solution during the winter months.
