The last of the wintering Ruby-throated Hummingbirds left my Valrico yard on May 4th. On May 2nd, I saw 3 different males. All had bands indicating that they wintered here. We banded a total of 15 Ruby-throateds in the yard this winter season.

My neighbor was still seeing one Ruby-throated Hummingbird in her yard for the past few evenings.

I thought all of the ruby throateds were all gone by now. How exciting that you still have some still hanging around. Haven't seen any here on the east coast for quite some time.

We do have some Ruby-throats breeding in Hillsborough County but not many. And, not typically in my neighborhood. I may see one every couple of weeks or so but I don't expect regular birds until late June at the earliest.

Sorry, I'm not a hummingbird expert at all so don't know sex, age, etc. We had one little hummer who hangs out near our bottlebrush tree but haven't seen him?her? for 2-3 weeks. I'm in Valrico. I saw it at various times of day. Maybe more toward evening.

Two Rubies constantly visit my yard, preferring the "native" flowerbeds I have installed; also they love the aloe flowers. They often are within a few feet when they zoom in and out. The male attends more often than the female.

Hi! I'm in New Tampa. I've been seeing an occasional fly by or very brief visit this spring - all male rubythroats. Here's my log so far: 3/22 - 1st fly by, headed to the bottlebrush 3/26 - fly by, headed to the bottlebrush 4/7 - same thing 4/17 - same thing 4/30 - ditto 5/18 - approached new hibiscus
All of the bottlebrush visits have been just before dusk. The hibiscus visit was in the afternoon. I'm adding hummer plants to the yard and hope to see them more frequently.

A friend in south Valrico is reporting 3 Ruby-throateds visiting feeders and flowers. There are at least one adult male and one female along with an apparent young bird. These sightings are in an area that is close to the Alifia River.

Hi Steve,
For the last week I've been having daily sightings of a female feeding on Firebush & Scarlet Sage in my front yard & Pink Porterweed in the backyard, here in Temple Terrace. I'm maybe a mile from the Hillsborough River at most.
