I am not sure what type of Hummer this is. I am very new at this. I just got a feeder 2 weeks ago & this one appeared right away after I hung it up. It comes by regularly & I see it at all times of day & evening. In the evening a bigger hummingbird comes & chases it away from the feeder. The bigger one will chase the smaller one all around the yard. I have just seen both of them again tonight. Can you tell me what type of hummingbird it is? I live in High Springs. Attachments:

The photo appears to be of a young male Ruby-throated Hummingbird.
Unless the "bigger" bird is rufous colored (or at least has rufous flanks), it's most likely a migrating Ruby-throated as well. I'm seeing considerable size differences in the birds in my yard. The bigger birds are just ones with enough fat reserves to continue on their journey south. The smaller ones are either building fat or potentially staying the winter. Ruby-throateds typically weigh a little over 3 grams but may weigh as much as 5 grams or more before beginning their migration.

Thank you Steve. I actually think that this is the bigger one after looking at the other pics. I took several pictures & the smaller one seems to have more white/light colors underneath. Most of the pictures didn't come out too clear so I couldn't post a good pic of the other one. They never share the feeder. I am trying to get better pictures but I don't have the best camera. On the smaller one the colors seem more of a dull brown but the larger one definitely has green on his back.
