On Friday, Sept 10th a Ruby-throated showed up at my feeder about 6:45 pm. It has been around all week and is now feeding several times a day at the feeder. I am not sure if it is a juvenile male or female. It has the white spot behind the eye and at least 3 of the tail feathers have white tips which leads me to believe it is a female. However, during the course of the week, more show is showing up in the gorget area.
I also have an adult male, which I think is the same one that arrived in late August. Although I may go a day or two without seeing him, his hovering behaviors lead me to believe it is the same one.
I watched the two of them face off the other evening. The adult wouldn't let the juvenile get to the feeder and they both seem to just hand mid air for a couple minutes. Finally the juvie flew off and hovered above some Plumbago before leaving the yard.

Are you still seeing hummers? I am just west of Peterson's Nursery, and I am still seeing them everyday. Still at least two males.
