Many folks with several Hummers remaining at your feeders after Oct 15th and prior to Feb 15th may wish to report their birds to a Master Bander. He or she may be able to visit your home, trap, band and provide a wealth of information about your hummers. Their documentation and records continue to add to our knowledge of these marvelous birds. There is a link on this info page to the Ph#'s and e-mail addresses of the bander's. Hummer/Bird Study Group www.hummingbirdsplus.org/WinterHummingbirdBanding.htmlJoe M. Lakeland, FL

Fred Dietrich (Master Bander) made a quick stop yesterday and banded two Ruby-throated which had been banded in previous winters. We had others give the traps a close look but declined to cooperate. Of significance was one that has now returned for a seventh year and is at least 8 years of age. He will set an age record if he returns next winter. Clearly indicated that hummers do have a sense of 'site fidelity' and will often return to the same areas year after year. Joe M. Lakeland Attachments:
