Im late coming to this forum, just found out about it! I have had a Ruby throat nest in my oak tree 2 years in a row-she probably showed up at the end of March, babies fledged sometime at end of May I believe, 2 offspring each year, added on to same nest this year. Young were spotted at my feeders for a while in June. Not home enough to keep track. As of July I have at least 2 males and 2 females plus one immature coming to feeders, probably have more-these are just the ones Ive spotted at one time. There are a lot of birders in Tallahassee with hummers, also many people here have hummers in winter, unfortunately I am not one of them. Around Tallahassee August tends to be the peak month for hummers, and part of September. By October we just have a few straglers. I work at a Nature Center 4 mile over the state line in Georgia, we just put us a total of 5 feeder in preparation for our Butterfly Festival and our best count has been 10 hummers-we have 565 acres and I know they breed here, but not enough man power to try to locate!
