Hello everyone!
Shortly after Thanksgiving we saw a male Ruby Throated Hummer in our yard, the first we've seen since this past summer. He's still around. We have about 5 feeders up but they are all empty. We have a lot of blooms in our garden and the hummer seems to be doing fine without the nectar for the time being.
I have purchased extra sugar to be sure we are ready to (first clean) then fill all of our feeders in the event that we have a freeze this year. For the past couple of years we have had hummers spending the winters with us, at which time we faithfully clean, fill and maintain all the feeders, plus hang additional feeders too as they are needed.
We live in Riverview (Tampa Bay area) close to the Riverview Library and the Alafia River.
We have been fortunate in that for years we've had hummers coming to our yard off-and-on throughout the year.
