i'm wondering if there is a thread already addressing this: do they raise young here in fl. if so, what time of year; in what kinds of trees/shrubs/vines; what height from the ground. i've read posts that mentioned immature birds in the winter. did they fly here? were they hatched here? at what age are they mature by size and plumage? do they mate for life? how long do they live? they seem to occasionally like to buzz me; are they checking me out or just considering me part of the terrain thus not noticing they pass over my head within a foot.

There have been confirmed nests in Polk Co. only 2-3 that I know of, one in the area of the "green swamp". Fairly certain I had a nest in the area 2 years ago, since the young bird following a Female around had to have been recently fledged (early May). The majority of nesting activity is from the Carolinas, North and North-west into Southern Canada.
