saw my first rufous hummingbird this morning! Saw a silhouette of a hummer land in the top of a drake elm, had my binoculars with me and thought it looked different than a ruby, but the sun was just up (7:30) and couldn't see colors. Saw a gorget so knew it was a male. Watched him "bathe" and snap an insect flying by, then he flew off. I was wondering if it was a rufous and then he zoomed back to feed on a firespike and fed a good while on a butterfly bush. I got a great view of this beautiful little bird, good start to the day! I have only seen one ruby this week checking out window feeder, possibly a young male.

Very nice and good reporting! One comment and for 'all' a request that you let us know where you are located by 'signing' with a city, town etc., so we know where the hummers have been observed. Thanks. Joe M. Lakeland
