I have had hummingbirds for months. Every evening before dark they show up in numbers. They are going for the plumbago plants. My neighbor across the street has at least a dozen at a time on her plumbago. These hummingbirds are shades of brown. Not very colorful. I do not know what kind they are. They are here all summer long and right now the numbers are way up. Attachments:

I fear I just figured out that what we have been identifying as hummingbirds here in our yard and getting so excited about are actually moths??? Is this correct??? Anyone?? I'm very disappointed. Are these moths a menace in any way?

You are correct! Good picture of a Sphinx Moth, very easy to mistake them for Hummers but the fact that they are primarily seen at dusk is another clue. They are great pollinators and are of no harm to a garden. Joe M. Lakeland
