Finally, after a hanging a new feeder 4 months ago, we have our first bird at the feeder. I guess it's a young bird, as it has little color, and it has been in starting yesterday and today, so maybe it will stay awhile. How exciting, to see this tiny creature, after waiting all summer! All you can hear are the wing sounds, and little quiet peeping. I was up on our roof today, and noticed it going from the feeder, to the flowers next door. So, after reading up on the advice on this site, I guess it's time to plant some flowers, too. It seems to feed mostly morning and afternoon. Hopefully more often, as we get more in to feed. Patience pays off, I see.

As of the past 2 weeks, after changing to sugar/water from the store mixture, there is one young feeding off and on daily at our feeder. I have been able to watch him? (has a little marking on the throat, almost a small diamond shape), but no way have I been able to get a picture....guess this will take time. It's so great after waiting all summer to get one regular one. I wonder if any HB's will stay here in Jacksonville all winter, probably too cold? Valle

Most of the hummers we have had this year have left. There was a female on the flowers in the front yard, last week, but not on the feeder. Guess they are moving further south. This was my 2nd year with the feeder up, and it was really a joy to see a few this year.
