i have not seen a hummer since september. i have some coral honeysuckle still blooming a little and the feeder is kept loaded, hoping some winter travelers will stop by...but i have not seen any. my coral honeysuckle gave up a lot of leaves in september and i was of the opinion that my neighbor, in the process of spraying weed killer on the edge of his lawn, got my honeysuckle through the chain link fence. i don't remember the plant loosing it's leaves in the past. i put up a shield between the plant base and the fence. if he sprayed it with the purpose of keeping it from spilling over onto his property, he should get the message that i think he may have zapped it intentionally. for the past 4 years, i have not experienced the absence of hummers during the fall.

I have a big Cape Honeysuckle tree also and it did loose alot of leaves this year starting about a month ago. But it seems to be replacing them as fast as it is loosing them. No problems with its blooming thoe. I am still having to sweep off my deck constantly to get the leaves and blooms off. I did get a surprise when I saw the Bahamma Curly Tails (type of lizzard) eating the dropped blooms. These lizzards are quit friendly and fearless. They like to follow me around while I,m watering or weeding and snapping up any bugs I stir up. Happy Holidays, Lynne in Jupiter, Fl.
