I have been regularly seeing at least one female ruby-throated in my flower's garden in East Orlando for the last week. This summer season has been slow to see regular visitors. Today I saw two females. One had come from one direction in the adjacent woods and another came from the opposite direction. So glad as I have been impatient to see more visits. Yesterday, they came several times throughout the day. One may have been a juvenile as it seemed to be smaller and was investigating more of my plants. They have mostly been using the tall red pentas, coral honeysuckle, and a cuphea, with a few hits on salvias and agastache. I'm surprised they haven't gone to the blooming firebush. My firespike, unfortunately, isn't blooming. I'm wondering if I should also put out a feeder, but they do require a good bit of maintenance in this hot weather, and I have a lot of blooms for them now. So happy to see them each day at last.
