An adult female Rufous/Allen's was identified in my Valrico yard this afternoon. I assume it's a returning Rufous from last winter but without bands I can't be sure. Hopefully, we'll be able to band her this year.

Two more Rufous showed up this past week, an adult female and a young male. I'm assuming the female is another from last winter. She quickly took over a territory along the back fence that Rufous #3 claimed. She hid for a couple of days but did not flee from me. She's now sitting out in the open at the top of a bottlebrush allow me to walk under her. She also quickly fed at the Dr JB's feeder where #3 fed from last year. The male's territory is in the front yard outside my living room. He spends most of his time sitting atop a cassia watching over his territory. He takes part in an occasional chase but seems fairly accepting of a young Ruby-throat. More noteworthy is that he appears to get along with the first female Rufous who's claimed the other half of the front yard.
