A little hummingbird had his beak temporarily caught in my pool cage screen, but he freed himself. I don't usually see hummingbirds at my house, not sure what kind he was, he was mostly blackish blue, no color variations really.

I have lived in Bradenton and Sarasota since 2001. I moved from Raleigh, NC where I had many humming birds, mostly Ruby throated. I tried to attract them to my feeder for several years, unsuccessfully. All I got were bees. Lol. I have since given up, assuming that I would never see one in Florida. 2 years ago, I moved from Sarasota to South East Bradenton. Just north of University. Just about a week ago, I saw my first Hummer! It was about 4-12-14. I was thrilled! I ran out and bought a new feeder. As of today, it is up and waiting for a customer. Lol. I planted a red Mandevilla to assist in attracting my long lost friends.

I live in North Port and have a lot of flowers and shrubs. As I was coming in about 7:30 tonight I say a black hummingbird on a night blooming jasmine. Watched for a while but did not see another one.
