Don't expect to see dozens of hummers in your yard in FL, and depending where your located determines what you should expect to see during our seasons. North of Central Fl (Orlando ) summer Ruby-throated are not uncommon. South of that E-W line they are less common in the Summer! This applies to the Panhandle of FL as well! South of Orlando over-wintering hummers are relatively common but not overwhelming in numbers . Here in Lakeland I see a hummer or two in the summer but more during the winter months. Little known to most is that western hummingbirds are frequent visitors to FL in the winter and are not uncommon. Common western hummers visiting in the winter are Rufous and Black-chinned! Toss in an occasional visit by an Allen's, Calliope, Buff-bellied and a few others make FL an interesting place, if you have an eye out for them! Best wishes and hope you attract a few!
