our wanta be ranch in the NE of Hernando county is rural.Mostly Fl. crackers horses cattle and wild life.We do have hummers that live here from march to about September in our very large magnolia tree. Our back deck is a good place to take photos of the speedy hummers and we would like to learn more about the birds such as feed, species and migration habits.WE are,my wife and I are senior over the hill citizens and have been lucky enough to call Fl. our home since 1950.

I'm in Hernando Co as well--Brooksville area close to the Pasco Co line and in the boonies. Have been seeing several female Ruby Throats, but no mails so far. I have several feeders set up on my wrap around porch and they visit them all day. One female is quite a bit larger than the others and will chase them if they visit 'her' feeder while she's in the area. I'm hoping to see some males, but so far no luck!
