I put my hummingbird feeder up a week ago and TODAY at 7:45am I saw a hummingbird! I could not get close enough to see it clearly but believe it's probably a Ruby. He's come back a few times already so I will keep watching and see if I can identify him. I'm off to the store to buy another feeder... maybe two!

Okay, so I've seen the hummers a few more times (6 or 7) since my first sighting. Guessing they are just passing thru on their way South as they never stick around and never see them at the same feeding times. Unfortunately they were too quick and too far away to get a good look... until today. Today at 4:30pm it was a female ruby (bright green back and no red on the throat) enjoying the nectar on my dwarf poinciana flowers. She never did come to the feeders. Same with a few others. They enjoyed the flowers but not the feeder like the first few visitors. Changed the water and will continue to watch and report.
