Any hummers been sighted yet in Jacksonville? I've been watching several weeks and have not spotted one yet.

For those in northern FL that haven't seen any hummers yet I can assure you they are around. The current spring migration map shows that hummers are being seen and reported in the middle Atlantic states so if you haven't seen one it's probably just a matter of them blessing you with their presence. They tend to be pretty fickle here in FL! My 4 over wintering birds have not been seen for more than a week and are probably 3-4 hundred miles north by now. An adult female made an appearance on the 30th of Mar. and that was it, didn't stay the day, just made a fuel stop at the flowers but never visited a feeder! Pretty typical in my Lakeland area for the over wintering birds to leave in mid to late Mar. and then have an occasional sighting for the next couple of months but no permanent residents in the summer months. We tend to have "here today, gone tomorrow" hummers from April until Oct. www.hummingbirds.net/map.html

I live in the Julington Creek area and I have been seeing them all day, everyday, for about a week now. So much so that I have been photographing them with ease and documenting them. I have decided due to all the activity this year I am going to dedicate a portion of my backyard to plants so they can feed readily and stay around. I am adjacent to water so I think I have a good chence of having them around most of the year. Very exciting!

I'm out in Neptune Beach and have been seeing Ruby throats since late March. I also have them at my feeder just about daily. My neighbors have large bottle brush bushes which are now in full bloom, so I believe this is also attracting them to the area.

I have several hummingbirds that come in my yard daily. Yesterday I was sitting under a trumpet vine and I could locate where the hummingbirds were based on the sound of their 'propellers.' They are so beautiful to watch. I just tonight found this forum as I was curious about the hummingbirds so I was in here looking for info. Tomorrow I will pay better attention so I can identify which kind they are.
