I received a call yesterday from someone in Gulf Hammock reporting that he typically has migrating hummingbirds (February/March to May and then again from July/August through September) but they stayed the summer this year. He's reporting 7 birds currently being seen in his yard. I would guess that he's got one or two females nesting in the area this year. He did add a few flowers to the yard which may have played some role in the birds staying this summer.
He's going to work at adding more flowers and I advised him to keep at least one feeder up through the winter, at least into December and especially after the first freeze.
