I moved to Florida over 20 years ago from Ohio and I always had 3 or so feeders hung up all summer and greatly enjoyed the hummers. I have tried everything imaginable to get hummingbirds to my Central Florida yard but never could get any. A few evenings ago we were sitting at my dining room table and my husband excitedly said there's a hummingbird and explained he saw it on our patio drinking from my dark pink Penta plant. I was happy that he had seen one but sad that I had missed it. The next day I was standing on my patio and a hummingbird flew right beside me and started drinking from the same Penta plant. She was within 2 feet of me, I was ecstatic, I saw her twice after that the same day. It's been 2 days now and I haven't seen her. I hung my feeder with fresh food and went to Lowes and got a firecracker plant and a hummingbird vine. Do you think she was passing thru or will she be back? I am still excited to finally see a hummingbird after living in Florida for over 20 yrs. I pray she will be back. Happy hummingbird watching.
