After 4 years of trying to attract a hummingbird one has finally seems to hanging around and using one of four feeders and enjoying the many plants I have provided it. I think it's a female ruby but not quite sure yet. It's just started returning regularly and I've just been putting out the feeders seen Wednesday. Don

Well yesterday I noticed it at the feeder and then saw another one waiting to come to the feeder.after the second one (another female ruby throated) feed they both took off together. I haven't seen either since. Probably all points south. sure am glad they stopped by ,it really was a pleasure to have had them.

I'm not sure how to tell but I have a female at the feeder this morning. She is at the fire bush and the feeder.I'm not sure if I'm on a migration route or if it's the same female that's been around over the past week.

Donla,
Pretty much all of Florida is on a "migration route". You may and may not be seeing the same bird. I'm seeing mostly young males, most of them have very little if any red on their throats but they do all have stippling (streaks of bronze to green spots on the throat). The females tend to have little of any stippling. The stippling on the males is not always easy to see so they are often mistaken for females.
