I've enjoyed hummingbirds visiting my back yard over the past few years. They'll buzz right up to my kitchen window. We've added a screened porch this winter and my feeders as of March 10 are clean and ready for my guests. I have 3 feeders out but will add more, we have honeysuckle vines and am also growing colorful flowers.
I've also installed a wild bird feeder nearby. QUestion:will the hummers be intimidated with the wild bird feeder nearby? 2nd question: I have the feeders right next to my screened porch and under the overhang to protect it from sun and rain, will they be less likely to visit? I'm excited to share news of other sightings and successes of watchers in south Jacksonville. Starrjax

Starrjax,
Birds at seed feeders should not affect hummingbirds in a negative way. I feel that their presence actually encourages hummingbirds to visit as their sounds indicate a safe place where birds can feed. If it were unsafe, the birds would not be there. Some birds may be leery about going into or under something to feed but others will not think twice about it. Hummingbirds routinely come under the roof of my front porch to feed.
